The George Washington University Center for Excellence in Public Leadership is housed within the College of Professional Studies (CPS) of The George Washington University, providing access to the resources of a world-class educational institution in addition to the professional experts, local leaders, and government agencies found only in the nation’s capital. By working closely with our clients, the Center has access to a unique perspective on the challenges faced by public sector leaders dealing with all levels of government within the federal system.

The Center’s grounding premise is that the public sector needs strong leadership and management capacity within the ranks of government and community groups in order to meet the challenges of the 21st Century. The Center’s mission is to develop public leaders who make a positive difference in their organizations and the lives of the people they serve, by:

  • Providing leadership and management development experiences which inspire public leaders and are grounded in research and practical knowledge

  • Creating collaborative networks among public leaders to share resources, knowledge, and experience.

The Center accomplishes the mission by working in three core areas:

  • high-quality executive education in leadership and public management

  • Research on state-of-the-art public management policies and practices

  • Expert management advice

The Center fulfills its mission by weaving together this combination of academic and practitioner resources to provide services with a perspective different from that provided by traditional consulting firms.

“Edil Al” is a leader construction company. It was founded in 1994. The company operates nowadays as a trading company, builder, investor, which buys, develops, manages and sells real estate assets.

We believe and rely on our human capital and we recognize that a new leadership mindset is required to cultivate new strategies and open new markets.

We believe that:

  • Leadership is  a competitive advantage

  • Creativity is required to constantly reinvent

  • The most effective leaders are conscious leaders

  • Leadership development is a strategic priority, and is more complex than once thought

In fact, outstanding leaders significantly outperform their less effective counterparts.  This is why we believe that great leadership is a competitive advantage, and that sustaining high levels of business performance is achieved through effective leadership practices applied with discipline over time.  We believe, as senior leaders struggle with rapidly mounting global complexity and the creativity required throughout the organization to constantly reinvent the business, that the development of effective leadership has never been more of a strategic, competitive priority.

Organizational performance is directly tied to effective leadership and the only sustainable competitive advantage today is leadership. Preserving that competitive advantage means that leaders and their organizations must develop at a rate that keeps pace with accelerating magnitude of global change. The development of leaders is more complex than most people believe. It challenges the foundations of our most cherished assumptions. EDIL-Al would like to further explore and be a thought partner in how we cultivate a new mindset, from which genuinely new and responsive strategies will flow. Through our engagement we hope to leave a legacy not only for the country but also in the region and world.

This event is the first in a series of our training and coaching programs designed to help people lead change in their work, lives and the society.

The Leadership Challenge® Workshop is a unique, intensive, and highly interactive experience that has served as a catalyst for profound leadership transformations in organizations of all sizes and in all industries, based on the award-winning book, The Leadership Challenge, by Jim Kouzes and Barry Posner. Jim Kouzes is the Dean’s Executive Fellow of Leadership at Santa Clara University and Barry Posner is Accolti Professor of Leadership and former Dean (1997 – 2009) of the Leavey School of Business, Santa Clara University.

The leadership curriculum is based on research collected from over 25,000 leaders and 100,000 constituents in a variety of private and public sector organizations. This research, collected over the past 30 years, identifies the five practices that characterize how ordinary people get extraordinary things done in organizations. Individuals who increase the frequency of these five leadership practices have been proven to have higher credibility and higher performing teams through a more engaged workforce. Through this work, it has been proven that leadership is a learned behavior, and that individuals who experience our program do in fact increase their leadership effectiveness in the longer run.
